Anyone visiting the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) office or participating in an in-person event must be fully vaccinated, President Mary Van Buren said in a statement.
“As we head into the fall of 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic remains a serious threat to our personal health, the health of our families, friends, colleagues and business partners. As a fourth wave of infection has affected many areas of Canada, health authorities across the country continue to recommend measures to mitigate the risk to individuals and to those with whom they may be in contact” Van Buren wrote in a statement to CCA members.
“Health authorities are broadly recommending a full range of measures, including hand washing, wearing masks, social distancing, testing, self-isolation, and full vaccination.”
Chandos Construction to require vaccines for all employees
Calling the construction industry a leader in Canada in adoption of safety and early implementation of mitigation measures to protect employees and reduce the spread of COVID, Van Buren highlighted that some employers, public and private, are requiring full vaccination and many provinces are rolling out vaccine passports.
“Many project owners are considering (and some have implemented) a requirement for full vaccination for access to construction project sites. Many of our member firms are promoting (and in some cases requiring) full vaccination,” she said.
“As we continue to get back to some level of “normal” in our lives and businesses, CCA encourages everyone to follow the advice and recommendations of our public health authorities and use the full range of the measures recommended by our public health authorities to reduce the risk and impact of COVID on ourselves, our families and our friends and colleagues.”
