Paul and Blake Arnill of Seeley and Arnill Construction visited Campbell House in Collingwood to contribute $10,000 to the year-end campaign, Wish List 2019.

“Recently, our family was at Campbell House for a family friend,” Blake said in CollingwoodToday. “It’s very impressive what Hospice Georgian Triangle does. What this experience did was make us think of donating to the hospice.

“Since we are a local company and we typically do a lot of work for municipal governments and our local community, we like to give back.”

The Arnills said they hope their donation will encourage other local businesses to “do the same and get into the giving mood.”

Hospice Georgian Triangle began in 1987 as an all-volunteer, community-based visiting program providing non-medical support to those living with a life-threatening illness, or at the end-of-life, and to their families. Campbell House, a stand-alone facility with six residential suites, opened in August 2014.  An additional four residential suites are currently unopened and awaiting funding.

Palliative care services are provided free of charge, with on ongoing donations from the southern Georgian Bay community. Funding from the Ministry of Health provides less than half of the funds needed for operating expenses.

“Donations like this one from Seeley and Arnill Construction make it possible for HGT to continue delivering palliative care to our friends and neighbours, where and when they need it. We are very grateful to this local family-run business for their generous support,” interim executive director Trish Rawn said in a statement.

According to the company website, Ed Seeley and his son-in-law, Bill Arnill, formed a partnership in Dundalk Ontario in 1946 to become local road builders and bridge contractors throughout the province. The company found a niche and focused on building new roads in Northern Ontario. In 1971 Seeley & Arnill expanded and bought property in Durham, becoming aggregate suppliers and asphalt contractors and they continue to service the Collingwood, Grey and Simcoe County regions.

The Arnill Group is operated by four fourth generation Arnill brothers in Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta, while founder Paul is still involved.
