Construction starts on $26 million Newmarket police station

Construction has started on Newmarket’s new $26 million police station, which will serve as York Regional Police’s Number 1 District headquarters.

The station will serve not only Newmarket, but Aurora, East Gwillimbury, King Township and a small portion of the north border of Vaughan, with a total population of close to 200,000.

Parkin Architects Ltd. has designed the 45,000 sq. structure on 2.86 acres at 429 Harry Walker Pkwy. S.

DataBid.com reports that the project is expected to be completed by late 2021.
