Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for a group of five construction workers from southern Ontario. The group matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the February 9, 2021 Lotto Max draw to win $100,000. The group also won $2 on another Encore selection, bringing their total winnings to $100,002.

The group members are:

  • Nicholas McGill-Finelli of Welland
  • Andrew Jackson of Dundas
  • Jorge Bonnardel of Thornton
  • Martin Pena of Etobicoke
  • Russell Burton of Welland

“We started playing the lottery together about a year ago,” said McGill-Finelli. “We pick our own numbers. Each group member contributes a meaningful number to them.”

He checked the ticket using the OLG Lottery App. “We went from being tired to very happy at 4 a.m.,” he said.

The winners plan to pay bills and spoiling their children with the winnings.

Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. There is an Encore draw every day.

In accordance with government-issued lockdown measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, OLG is currently limiting the number of in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to only those that require a face-to-face interview.

The winning ticket was purchased at Dain City Convenience on Kingsway in Welland.
