Detail Of Services: The City of Burlington requires plowing and de-icing for various parking lots, designated walkways, entranceways, and pay-stations during the winter season. The work involves the continuous availability and supply of the necessary equipment and qualified operators. De-icing Material Application: A salt or salt/sand mixture will be provided by the City’s Roads Parks and Forestry (RPF) Dept., and therefore de-icing product is not to be included in the unit prices. The use of salt versus the salt/sand mixture is determined by the City’s Roads staff based on weather conditions. Wherever ‘salt’ is mentioned, will refer to whichever material is dispensed by the City. The successful Bidder will weigh in and out at the City’s yard when picking up de-icing material. Trucks will be required to return to the yard to weigh in/out to return any and all unused material. Service A – Plowing and Salt* in accordance with maps provided. The successful Bidder will monitor the weather conditions in Burlington as well as site conditions. In order to keep appropriate city staff informed of developing events, contractor will provide advance notification when services are required. Service B – treating surfaces with a Salt* mixture using the City’s product, unless otherwise indicated. The successful bidder will be responsible for tracking weather conditions as well as site conditions and notify the City staff team when additional de-icing material needs to be applied. Service C – Provisional Item – Windrow Plowing (upon request). Bidders will provide a price per Driveway Service D – Provisional Item – Snow hauling (if required)The successful Bidder will not pile snow onto parking spaces and must seek the City’s authorization to relocate snow to Brock Ave. (south of lot 15). Bidders will provide details of truck size, load size, and price per load. Posted with this Tender are maps and aerial views identifying the areas requiring service including walkways, lots, and driveways (for windrow clearing). The maps and aerial pictures are for reference only and do not relieve the Bidder of their responsibility to inspect all the sites. Parking lots may be added or deleted during the term of this contract in the absolute discretion of the City. All of the parking lots are open twenty-four (24) hours a day seven (7) days a week and lots must be cleared before 7:30 a.m.
