Detail Of Services: The project proposes to renovate the existing SNOLAB machine shop within SNOLAB’s surface water building located at Vale’s Creighton Mine site in Lively Ontario. The renovation will include the decommissioning, mechanical, electrical, and functional upgrades to the space. The mechanical and electrical work comprises of but is not limited to the following: Remove plumbing on the chain link wall Remove and dispose the chain-link wall and materials from around the pit Install new natural gas heater with any necessary line changes Relocate the fire water line to make room for jib crane Relocate fire pull station and alarm bell Adjust/relocate AC duct work and fan coil unit Relocate current machine shop panel, electrical components to the NE corner Reroute all services (electrical/mechanical) around garage door Contractor shall design Unistrut supports for electrical enclosure as per drawings The major functional components of the project are, and not limited to the supply and installation of an overhead door, jib crane, and an elevated platform. Existing double doors will be replaced with an overhead door. A new single doorway will be installed to ensure secondary egress. The existing frost slab located at the double doors will be extended to consider the new single door and overhead door. A low-profile jib crane will ensure maximum hook height considering the available space and structure. The elevated platform will be installed in the shops lower “pit” area extending shop floor space by approximately 260 square feet. The contractor will also need to make provisions to ensure SNOLAB can access the construction site at times and will need to coordinate with the SNOLAB project coordinator.
