Queens University Reactor Materials Testing Laboratory Mechanical Upgrades

Detail Of Services: Chillers – Two (2) existing Multistack chillers installed in the mechanical room are to be removed. Associated dry cooler on the roof is to remain and be reconnected to the new cooling plant. Two (2) new packaged chillers are to be installed on a new pad, within a new acoustic enclosure outside. Tree relocation (if required), trenching and site grading to be completed to suit new chiller installation. New buried pipework into the facility, new piping within the facility, three (3) new primary chilled glycol pumps, glycol and all related piping, equipment and controls are to be provided. Complete pre- and post-construction balancing reports are to be completed. Due to long equipment lead time, the chillers have been pre-ordered by Queen’s. Boilers – Two (2) existing boilers installed in the mechanical room are to be removed. New Viessmann Vitodens cascade system complete with four boilers and circulation pumps, low-loss header, manifold and associated controls and accessories is to be provided. Two (2) new primary heating pumps to be provided complete with piping, accessories and controls. Existing venting through roof is to be removed and roof openings repaired. New venting through roof to be provided for new boiler plant. New gas and condensate piping and accessories to be provided. Existing janitor’s sink to be relocated. Housekeeping pad modifications to be completed to suit new equipment. Complete pre- and post-construction balancing reports are to be completed. Process Cooling – The existing process chiller, installed in the mechanical room is to be removed. Existing process chiller condensing unit installed on roof is to be removed. Associated accessories, controls, piping and refrigerant are to be removed. Two (2) new process chilled water pumps, chilled water heat exchanger, backup domestic cold water heat exchanger and associated piping, accessories and controls are to be provided. One (1) new stainless steel de-ionized water pump is to be provided complete with accessories and controls. Housekeeping pad modifications to be completed to suit new equipment. Pre- and post-construction balancing reports are to be completed for process cooling system. Humidifier – The existing gas-fired humidifier and associated manifold, piping, accessories and controls, installed in the mechanical room, is to be removed. Existing venting through wall is to be removed and wall repaired. Two (2) new electric humidifiers are to be provided complete with new manifold in existing air handling unit, new piping, accessories, and controls. BAS – Enlist service of site controls company to update per mechanical drawings and specifications.SF6 Gas Detection – Four (4) existing SF6 sensors and associated extraction tubing are to be removed. New Honeywell Midas SF6 sensors are to be provided and integrated into the existing Honeywell SF6 controls. Existing ductwork, controls and BAS programming to be modified to allow for decreased response time. Complete pre- and post-construction air balancing reports are to be completed in both normal and ‘purge’ operation. ATS – Existing automatic transfer switch is to be removed and replaced with new ATS with bypass.
