Ehren Cory will continue in his role as chief executive officer of Infrastructure Ontario (IO) for another six months.
In January, Cory announced he was stepping down as of April 30, however, according to an announcement from Laurie Scott, provincial minister of infrastructure, Cory’s appointment has been extended until Oct. 31.
“I thank Ehren for agreeing to extend his tenure at IO and look forward to his continued strong leadership during this challenging period,” she said.
Cory has been CEO at IO for over three years.
Infrastructure Ontario is internationally recognized for its track record in successfully delivering large, complex projects. Its lending program has advanced more than $10 billion in affordable, long-term financing to municipalities, universities and other eligible public sector and non-profit organizations. The mandate also includes modernizing and enhancing the government real estate portfolio through asset planning, facilities contract management, and real estate advisory services.
“I am proud of the strong leadership that Mr. Cory has provided since our government was elected in 2018,” Scott said in a January 2020 statement.
“Under his watch, IO has continued to grow its impact and value as a Government agency and has successfully delivered billions of dollars of public infrastructure that is critical to the lives of the people of Ontario.”
The minister said Ehren was critical to ensuring that IO is well positioned to succeed on the next generation of infrastructure projects, including the hospitals, roads, courthouses and subway projects on the $65B “P3 Pipeline” announced last fall – the largest in Ontario’s history.
