EllisDon Infrastructure Services and Technology (EDIST) has supported Canada’s athletes at Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
It’s a partnership that dates back to 2015 with the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC), when EDIST helped operate the Athletes Village for the PanAm/ParaPanAm Games in Toronto.
After that success, the next logical step, according to EllisDon, was to support and operate the facility where the Canadian Paralympians lived during the Tokyo games which wrapped up Sept. 5.
The CPC team organized the participation of 128 Canadian athletes, against the backdrop of a very challenging 18 months of preparation.
EllisDon’s involvement included concierge support, games scheduling, FF&E database management space planning, inventory management as well as village space pre/post occupancy inspection services.
Canada competed in 18 sports in Tokyo and came home with 21 medals.
“Congratulations to each and every athlete selected to represent Canada in Tokyo,” said Stephanie Dixon, chef de mission, Tokyo 2020 Canadian Paralympic Team. “Canada’s Paralympians are absolute stars – they are among the best athletes in the world, and I can’t wait for their incredible hard work, talent, dedication, and perseverance to be celebrated across Canada.
The two organizations plan to collaborate once again in the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing in March 2022.
