Stephen Chaplin, vice president of health, safety and environment at EllisDon is the recipient of the Roy A Phinnemore Award, presented by the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA) at the 12th Annual IHSA General Meeting.

Inspired by the late Roy A. Phinnemore’s achievements, a former executive director of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO), the award is presented to individuals who have “diligently served the cause of construction health and safety through services, contributions, inventions, procedures, or any other means that the judging committee considers worthy of recognition”.

“I am truly honoured to be the recipient of the Roy A. Phinnemore Award this year,” Chaplin said.

“This has been a challenging time, constantly adapting to new requirements and leading new health and safety initiatives to keep our employees and communities safe during this pandemic. I want to sincerely thank our Health and Safety teams and everyone at EllisDon and on our job sites for their continuous efforts in keeping each other safe and healthy.”

EllisDon officials congratulated Chaplin on the achievement and thanked him for his “immense dedication to health and safety at EllisDon and in our industry as a whole.”

The Phinnemore is the foremost award given to Ontario’s construction industry. The winner is acknowledged with a commemorative plaque presented each year at IHSA’s AGM to recognize individuals who have diligently served the cause of construction health and safety through services, contributions, inventions, procedures, or any other means that the judging committee considers worthy of recognition.
