Endress+Hauser Canada is building a new customer experience building, just down the street from its current location in Burlington. However, the new building is planned to be an example of sustainable building at its best, qualifying under LEED Gold, Net Zero Carbon and Net Zero Energy certifications.

“Our goal is to create an exceptional facility in all respects that will not only be sustainable on the day it opens, but will still be considered as such decades from now,” says Anthony Varga, CEO and general manager of Endress+Hauser Canada.

The two-storey, 47,000 square foot building will also contain more features for customers and employees, offering more than the current, smaller headquarters. It will contain the company’s second Process Training Unit (PTU) in the country, a calibration laboratory, a bigger workshop and a training centre.

The PTU is a pilot plant that features Endress+Hauser instrumentation installed.  “All of our customers and partners will be able to come in and simulate process conditions that they would find in their own plants,” says Varga. “They can try out various products in real world conditions to gain confidence in performance once installed at their own sites. That, in turn, will help them make proper instrumentation choices.”

New features for employees include two cafes, a gym, a wellness room, a terrace, and a multi-faith prayer room. An atrium will house a full-sized live tree to improve air quality and the indoor experience.

Meanwhile, Endress+Hauser innovations will be seen and used throughout the building’s operation.  “We can measure any of the liquids flowing into and within the building, effluents or outputs in real time and perform oxygen and environment analysis,” says Varga.

Endress+Hauser offers services and solutions and measurement instrumentation for the process sector.

The new building is set to go up on a four-acre plot and be move-in ready by the fall of 2020.
