Ontario Construction News staff writer

This week, Ontario Construction News is recognizing several women who are leaders in the Canadian construction industry.

The Women’s Infrastructure Network (WIN) has announced the shortlisted nominees for the 2021 awards program, including many professionals at Canadian consulting engineering firms.

Jody Becker, chief strategy officer, executive vice-president, Infrastructure Services and Technology at EllisDon is nominated in the Outstanding Leader category.

After being called to the bar in 2001 Becker worked in construction litigation until she joined EllisDon in 2007 as Counsel. She was quickly promoted to General Counsel in 2010, and to SVP and General Counsel in 2011.

In her role as SVP and General Counsel, Jody was responsible for all legal and risk matters regarding EllisDon’s corporate operations, including all corporate legal and employment matters. She also notably led their legal bid teams and legal closing teams for all Alternative Financing and Procurement/Public-Private Partnerships projects.

More recently, Becker was appointed chief strategy officer, executive vice-president, Infrastructure Services and Technology. She oversees strategic planning for EllisDon. She works directly with members of EllisDon’s senior management and board of directors to forecast areas of growth and to develop execution plans.

Working directly with the CEO, Becker prepares EllisDon’s annual strategic planning report and works with all operational divisions to monitor progress on short-term and long-term objectives. Her current business mandate is to transform EllisDon into the most technologically-advanced, energy-efficient, and sustainable construction services company in the world.

WIN will present both awards at a virtual event on Apr. 29.
