Construction management firm Govan Brown has taken the next step in its succession plan by naming Joseph Kirk as its new president, overseeing operations across the country. Kirk will take over the role from senior partners Ralph Govan, John Brown, and Jon Taylor.

Taylor and Brown remain working at the company, while Govan retired last year.

“Promoting Joe to the role of president is the continuation of our well-thought-out succession plan for the Govan Brown Group,” says Jon Taylor, Govan Brown Group co-chairman. “We are pleased with the growth and continued expansion of the Govan Brown brand under Joe’s leadership.”

Kirk has spent the last five years helping to craft the corporate strategy out of the Toronto headquarters, and has nearly two decades’ experience in improving business operations, managing customer relations, and fostering corporate growth.

“Joe is a trusted leader and creative thinker who has consistently helped Govan Brown evolve and expand our business,” says John Brown, Govan Brown Group co-chairman. “He is integral to the culture we have here at Govan Brown and will undoubtedly continue to inspire our team and our clients with his signature pragmatism and leadership.”

Govan Brown has offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, and Kitchener, and has a joint venture office in Montreal. Founded in 1994, the company now completes about $300 million in construction projects every year across Canada.
