MetalCor Building Systems has announced a plan to build a $2.5 million steel manufacturing facility for metal-building in Strathroy.

“For the past four years, Premier Doug Ford and our government have fought to keep jobs here, in our amazing province,” said local MPP Monte McNaughton. “I want to thank MetalCor for their commitment to this mission, bringing more than 30 well-paying jobs back to our community.”

MetalCor currently sources several steel components for its business from American suppliers. The new manufacturing facility will allow the company to build the steel components right here in Ontario, keeping more investment and jobs in the community while boosting productivity and sales.

“With the support of the provincial government, MetalCor is launching a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for our innovative line of metal products,” said Nicole Fuca, co-owner of Metalcor.

“This investment will create many new jobs in the Strathroy area as we manufacture steel components that ship across Canada. We thank the government for their support in helping us grow our business and strengthen the community.”

The province will contribute $384,000 to the project from the Regional Development Program created to give businesses and municipalities financial support, skills and training supports, and information on tax credits.

Across the province, more than $100 million was available for economic recovery. The program provides cost-shared funding to businesses, municipalities and economic development organizations to help local communities attract investment, diversify their economies, and create good, local jobs.
