Minto GTA seeks Site Plan Approval for Etobicoke tower

Ontario Construction News staff writer

Minto Communities GTA has submitted a Site Plan Approval application for a proposed residential building at 12 Cordova Ave. in the Islington Village area of Etobicoke, DataBid.com reported last Thursday, citing Urban Toronto.

The proposed 24-storey structure is a five-minute walk to Islington station. The tower will rise from a 4-storey podium.

“The building was initially proposed at 27 storeys and 327 units, has been approved at 24 storeys, but is actually taller than the original plan, coming in at 86.35 metres, instead of 82.26 metres,” DataBid says.“This is due to the fact that each floor now has higher ceilings than initially designed by a previous architect. “

The new architect is Wallman Architects.

Instead of the 327 original units planned, 325 units have been approved. Parking for 179 vehicles and 244 bicycles will be on four underground levels.
