Constructionlab will release a suite of 10 e-learning courses for the construction and design industry in Canada and globally in the fall of 2020.
Courses will be categorized and aimed to suit the needs of domestic buyers of design and construction services, international real estate investors choosing Canada to build, on-site performance and efficiency, and project management related.
“E-learning traditionally has been very static and some argue boring – but with new platforms coming to market all the time, the world of e-learning has changed dramatically even in the past 3 years,” Derek Smith, president and senior facilitator with Constructionlab said in a news release.
Constructionlab will also offer e-learning courses for construction company onboarding and is in talks with home builder associations and professional associations to create options for design firms.
“E-learning has been known for a long time to provide minimum learning thresholds and when coupled with in-class in blended formats or coupled with on-line LIVE or Virtual Instructor Led Training (VILT) the opportunities are almost endless and opens up a world of new strategies to teach and share knowledge,” Smith said.  His experience includes assembling subject matter experts in the past to create e-learning courses for the Construction Institute of Canada.
Also, Smith is a practitioner and a facilitator across Ontario and throughout Canada for delivering critical thinking and though thought provoking in-class courses to over 4000 construction professionals.
Recently, Constructionlab led the initiative in Canada for delivering on-line LIVE facilitated sessions using Zoom and it sees that service in its portfolio for a long time to come. They also partnered with DataBid to develop a series of VILT courses for use in Canada and the U.S.
With COVID-19 causing challenges for delivering professional development in-class, Smith says Constructionlab has rounded out its service offerings to suit the learning style of any individual, or the needs of firms engaged in design or construction to deliver timely and relevant information.
“While we will always promote well established and traditional best practices and have delivered our knowledge and learning in-class and live on-line, all of the e-learning courses will be built for the modern construction landscape, penned in 2020 and capturing the latest innovations, project delivery solutions, and more importantly the modern learning expectations of our clients and learners,” he concluded.
