The Ontario government says it is investing more than $480 million in rural and northern and public transit infrastructure projects under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).

Here are 350 projects that have been forwarded to the federal government for final funding approval.

In May 2019, the province nominated five priority transit projects inside the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area to the federal government for funding under ICIP. The five projects nominated in the City of Toronto and York Region are:

  • Ontario Line project – 15.5 km Ontario Line will run 15.5 km from Ontario Science Center to Exhibition/Ontario Place, and include 15 stations (includes 6 interchange stations);
  • Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) project – an extension of the existing Toronto Transit Commission’s (TTC) Line 2, extending from Kennedy station in the east – with three stops at Lawrence East Station, Scarborough Town Centre Station and McCowan Station – and connecting to Sheppard Avenue East;
  • Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvement Project – a project to improve passenger safety and station capacity through the construction of an additional platform at Line 2 Yonge Station, modifications to the passenger platform at Line 1 Bloor Station, as well as the construction of a new electrical substation;
  • SmartTrack Stations Program – Construction of six new stations on the Stouffville, Lakeshore East, and Kitchener GO rail corridors; and
