The City of Peterborough is seeking input on the potential selection of Morrow Park as the future location for a new Arena and Aquatics Complex.

In November, city council approved reviewing Morrow Park as the potential location for a new Arena and Aquatics Complex. Work is underway to develop a high-level conceptual design and budget costs associated with pursuing Morrow Park as the potential site for an Arena and Aquatics Complex.

Perkins + Will Architect was selected to complete design work and site review. A date has not been set for construction of the new Arena and Aquatics Complex. Recommendations on next steps are expected to go to Council in summer 2021.

“We are eager to keep the new Arena and Aquatics Complex project moving forward through the Morrow Park site evaluation,” said Councillor Lesley Parnell, arenas, parks and recreation chair. “This is an exciting project with many benefits for our community and is long overdue.”

The plan includes a new twin-pad arena and indoor walking track with future phases for an aquatic centre and third ice pad. As a recreational hub, it will combine spaces for play, spectating, fitness and sports. Supporting recreational opportunities through this new building and associated upgraded park space will enhance the quality of life for those who live and play in the city.

City Council has approved reviewing Morrow Park as the potential location for this new recreational hub. Among the considerations about the potential location, the project would include new driveway connections to Lansdowne Street, parking and phased changes to the balance of the park. Previous phases for this project included consultation with facility user groups on the interior design elements of the planned Arena and Aquatics Complex.

  • A twin pad arena with 500 seats on each pad;
  • An elevated walking/running track;
  • 12 team change rooms and two official rooms;

  • Office space leased to sport group(s);
  • A concession stand;

Planned future Phase 2 – Competitive 8 lane pool with change rooms
