The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) has announced the winners for the 2019 Innovation Spotlight Awards as part of the CanBIM Toronto Regional Session: Technology Built Innovation V: Addressing the Affordable Housing Crisis Through Digital Innovation and Technology.

CanBIM hosted the 5th Annual Innovation Spotlight Awards presentation on Sept. 25. The 2019 Award was designed through a collaborative effort from 2018 Award Winners Carleton Immersive Media Studio (2018 Academic Award and 2018 Best In Innovation) and DIALOG (2018 Design and Engineering Award).

Top honours went to Plan Group for their innovative work on the LCBO – 100 Queens Quay – winning both the Trades Award and Best In Innovation Award.

“Plan Group took an innovative, cutting-edge approach to this project while maximizing their in-house talent and capability,” CanBIM said in its awards citation. “The use of BIM technologies (including Autodesk Revit and Navisworks, BIM Track and Trimble) made this project possible. From design and coordination to producing accurate and issue free assembly and spools drawings.

“Additionally, BIM technology allowed for seamless collaboration between team members in different geographical locations, a big advantage for companies like Plan Group who operate across Canada.”

CanBIM recognized industry leaders in  six award categories. Top honours were presented to the Best In Innovation Award Winner, which is selected from the winners of each of the award categories.
