BGIS Global CEO Gordon Hicks has been honoured as a recipient of the Order of Canada at the official ceremony on May 2.
“With more than 25 years of leadership at BGIS, Gord has driven our commitment to our cornerstone value of Living Sustainability,” the company said in a statement. “Globally Headquartered in Markham, BGIS provides management, advisory and services delivery to our clients’ global real estate portfolio exceeding 600-plus million sq. ft., including 400+ million square feet in Canada alone.
“Gord has spearheaded our vision to become an industry frontrunner in energy conservation, waste reduction, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, water management, and hazardous materials reduction in our client’s real estate assets,” the statement said.
“Our collective passion and dedication have significantly contributed to numerous achievements in Environmental, Social, and Economic Sustainability goals for our Corporate and Public sector clients,” the company said in its statement. “As a unified entity, the BGIS team takes immense pride in our work, demonstrating genuine care for one another and our communities.
“With Gord’s leadership, our support extends through direct contributions, event sponsorships, fundraising initiatives, and voluntary endeavours undertaken by our team members.”

The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country. This honour is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall.
