Atlas Engineered Products Ltd. has completed commissioning of Canada’s first robotic roof truss manufacturing line at its new 42,000-sq. ft. automation facility in Clinton.

Training and testing are underway, including production runs of roof trusses intended for sale, the Nanaimo, B.C.-based company announced Oct. 8.

The robotic line is designed to increase production capacity and improve operating efficiency as the company responds to demand for housing construction.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of our shareholders, the Government of Canada’s IFIT program, our suppliers and our employees as we complete the installation and commissioning of Canada’s first robotic roof truss manufacturing line at our new 42,000-sq. ft. automation facility,” Hadi Abassi, Atlas president, CEO and founder, said in a statement.

“The increased capacity and operating efficiencies provided by this robotic line will help AEP support the industry as Canada works to build more homes.”

The company plans to showcase the facility later this month, with shareholders, industry partners, students and community members invited to attend.

Atlas Engineered Products acquires and operates businesses in Canada’s truss and engineered products industry. The company says its growth strategy includes acquisitions and the adoption of new technologies to expand operations in a fragmented market of independent manufacturers.
