Skills Ontario igniting curiosity in skilled trades at summer camps

Ontario Construction News staff writer

Skills Ontario is hosting a series of summer camps across the province to grow interest in skilled trades careers.

The week-long day program for kids entering grades 7 to 9 runs during the months of July and August, from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm.

Through hands-on activities relevant to the skilled trades, campers develop communication, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

It’s an opportunity for Skills Ontario counselors and industry/college professionals to introduce youth to a variety of topics in the industrial, construction, motive power, service, and technology sectors; they explore careers in skilled trades through interactive games, industry tours and entrepreneurship programs.
