AtkinsRéalis chosen for Peel sanitary sewer design work

Ontario Construction News staff writer

BRAMPTON – AtkinsRéalis has been selected by the Region of Peel to carry out engineering design work for a new sanitary trunk sewer on Kennedy Road.

The firm will provide preliminary and detailed design services for the Kennedy Road Sanitary Trunk Sewer Project, including geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations and excess soils management studies, Peel Region said.

The work will also include evaluating construction approaches aimed at limiting surface disruption, such as trenchless micro-tunnelling. Design activities will involve permitting, field investigations and coordination with affected stakeholders.

The project is part of Peel Region’s broader program of linear infrastructure upgrades in Brampton’s central area to support future housing development.

AtkinsRéalis’ materials and geotechnical testing laboratory in Vaughan will support the design work. The lab provides testing services for infrastructure projects across the Greater Toronto Area and for Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation.

No construction timeline or cost estimate has been announced.
