BRAMPTON – The next phase of development for the new Peel Memorial Hospital is underway, with William Osler Health System (Osler) selecting Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. as its development partner to help advance the project’s design, schedule, and pricing.

The agreement marks a key milestone in transforming Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second full-service hospital. Under a Development Phase Agreement signed with Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Osler, Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. will work to finalize detailed plans and establish a target price before construction on the new patient tower begins.

“The selection of the Development Partner and the signing of the Development Phase Agreement mark momentous milestones in the transformation of Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second hospital,” said Pardeep Singh Gill, Chair of William Osler Health System’s Board of Directors. “Osler looks forward to continuing to partner with the Ontario Government, Infrastructure Ontario, City of Brampton, Osler Foundation and our community, and now with Bird Design-Build Construction Inc., to build the state-of-the-art hospital this community needs and deserves.”

“We are thrilled to be advancing the Peel Memorial Hospital project, which will bring much-needed services closer to home, reduce the need to travel for care and support the health and wellbeing of our fast-growing and diverse community for generations to come,” said Dr. Frank Martino, President and CEO of William Osler Health System. “Today’s announcement is an important step toward a very bright, exciting future for health care in this community.”

The Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. team includes Cannon Design Ltd. as the design partner. The project is being delivered through Infrastructure Ontario’s Progressive Design-Build (Target Price) model, which emphasizes collaboration and innovation among partners.

“This achievement represents a significant step toward bringing world-class, compassionate care closer to home for Brampton residents,” said Angela Clayton, President and CEO of Infrastructure Ontario. “It demonstrates our shared commitment to strengthening local health care and building a healthier future for all Bramptonians.”
