Contractors, developers, and investors now have a single resource to explore business and development opportunities in Bruce County with the launch of the Invest in Bruce initiative and its new website.

The program connects builders, developers, and project investors with local advisors, networks, and support programs to start, expand, or partner on projects in the region. Key sectors for development include energy, agriculture, and tourism, creating opportunities for construction projects ranging from infrastructure and industrial facilities to commercial and recreational developments.

Bruce County is home to Bruce Power, the world’s largest nuclear operator, and its energy sector continues to drive demand for construction and engineering expertise. Tourism development also contributes to construction needs, with the county attracting about 2.5 million visitors annually and supporting projects in hospitality, recreation, and related infrastructure.

Agriculture remains another major driver, with nearly 2,000 farms generating more than $255 million in gross sales in 2021. Growth in agri-food facilities, processing plants, and farm infrastructure provides additional opportunities for contractors and developers.

Since 2017, Bruce County has supported 55 entrepreneurs through Starter Company Plus and offered 293 business training seminars. The county now has more than 5,700 registered businesses and ranks first in Southern Ontario for working-age residents holding apprenticeship certificates, highlighting the availability of skilled labor for construction projects.

The Invest in Bruce website provides builders and developers with information on sector-specific opportunities, grants, incentives, and connections to local partners and communities.
