Burlington residents will have the chance to weigh in on a wide range of municipal projects and initiatives next month at the city’s sixth annual Food for Feedback community engagement event.
The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 12, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Central Park Bandshell, 2299 New St.
Attendees can speak with city staff, ask questions and provide feedback on projects and initiatives while receiving a free lunch from a food truck, while supplies last. Vegetarian and halal options will be available.
The event is designed to give residents an opportunity to become more engaged in their community and provide input directly to city staff.
Among the topics expected to be discussed are Burlington Transit, city communications, customer relations and experience, volunteering with the city, recreation programming and community development, and city advisory committees.
Residents can also provide feedback on transportation services, including traffic operations, signals and transportation planning.
Other topics include environmental sustainability and emergency preparedness, the 2027 municipal budget, the Urban Stormwater Master Plan, bylaw compliance, the 2026 municipal election and the 2027 Official Plan review.
The city will also seek input on the Plains Road and Aldershot Corners Streetscape Study, future cemetery services, the Sherwood Park project, Burlington’s employment area and the Indigenous Advisory Circle to the Mayor.
The event will feature 20 project booths and a Kidz Zone where children can take part in activities while parents and caregivers learn about city initiatives.
Feedback collected at the event will help inform city decision-making. Participating projects will provide council with a report outlining how community input was considered and incorporated into planning and decision-making.
“Meaningful resident engagement leads to better decisions and stronger community outcomes,” Deputy Mayor of Community Engagement and Partnerships Lisa Kearns said. “By sharing ideas, experiences, and priorities, residents play an important role in shaping Burlington’s future.”
“We invite everybody to come out to eat, share your opinions, and make our city better,” said Mayor Marianne Meed Ward. “This is our most popular way of getting your input.”
The event will be held outdoors at the Central Park Bandshell. In case of inclement weather, it will move indoors to the Burlington Seniors’ Centre at 2285 New St.
