A groundbreaking ceremony for a new residential development in Campden will also serve as a community fundraiser to help create a sensory room at a nearby group home operated by Bethesda. Gavora Creek Landing is hosting its Dig for a Difference event on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9:45 a.m. to noon at 3605 Bucknall Lane in Campden, in the Niagara Region.
The fundraiser will support the development of a dedicated sensory room at the Bethesda group home located across the road from the new residential development. Bethesda provides services and support to people with developmental disabilities.
Organizers said they wanted one of the first community events associated with the development to focus on giving back to the neighbourhood.
The event will bring together local businesses, residents and Bethesda supporters, with donations collected to help fund the sensory room.
Activities will include coffee, lattes and hot chocolate, baked goods, games, face painting and a bouncy castle. Some Bethesda residents will also attend and sell their original artwork.
The Campden General Store will offer Campden-themed apparel and baked goods. Dig for a Difference is open to the public, with families encouraged to attend.
Donations can also be made through the Bethesda Foundation. Donors are asked to write “Dig for a Difference” in the comments field to ensure their contribution is directed to the fundraiser.
