The Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) has announced its 2025–2026 board of directors, appointing Kristen Bauer as its new president and Sarah Morison as its new executive director.

Morison joins the national not-for-profit with extensive leadership experience in the nonprofit sector. Bauer, an Innovation Product and Solutions Manager at United Rentals, is a long-time CAWIC member and a past chair of the association’s Western Canada Chapter.

In a news release, the organization outlined its priorities for the year, which include:

  • Strengthening advocacy for policy change and workplace equity;
  • Expanding mentorship opportunities for women at all career stages; and
  • Deepening partnerships with companies, educational institutions, and government.

The new appointments follow the departure of outgoing president Lisa Laronde and executive director Kristina Fixter. CAWIC acknowledged Fixter for strengthening operations and helping launch the CAWIC–Schulich Upskilling Certificate Program. Laronde was recently recognized as one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women by the Women’s Executive Network.

CAWIC will hold its annual conference Sept. 16-18 in the Markham, with a focus on leadership, wellness, and innovation in the construction sector.
