CCA urges post-election support from federal government

The Canadian Construction Association (CCA) is urging the next federal government to maintain momentum on infrastructure investment following this month’s election campaign.

“We appreciate the commitments federal parties, candidates and leaders have made on infrastructure during this election,” CCA president Rodrigue Gilbert said in a statement. “Now, it’s time to follow through.”

Construction isn’t just about building, he said, “it’s about good jobs for hardworking Canadians, safe, reliable infrastructure for communities across the country, and a robust, resilient economy.”

“The industry was facing challenges before the current crisis and will continue to face these same hurdles if systemic inefficiencies and chronic underinvestment are not addressed,” Gilbert said. “Short-term strategies aren’t good enough — to unlock the full potential of construction in driving Canada forward, we need long-term solutions.”

The association is hoping to work with the next federal government to advance policies and investments needed for critical infrastructure across the country — from trade and transport to housing.
