Effective June 1, 2020, the City of Kingston’s Planning Services Department will reinstate pre-application services as part of its development review process. Meetings will be conducted remotely, through Zoom or other secure virtual platforms, to allow applicants and staff to maintain physical-distancing guidelines.

“With the Province’s recent announcements, we’re taking a close look at how we can adapt our current business practices,” says Sukriti Agarwal, manager of service standards and data management for the Planning Services Department. “One of the opportunities we identified was the resumption of pre-application meetings.”

The pre-application schedule will have a submission deadline of June 1 and will begin with a limit of 10 files per cycle, which will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis as received. Surplus files received as part of the 10-file pre-application cycle will be rolled over to the next cycle.

Pre-application files that were submitted between March and May are currently being assigned to Planning staff, and Planners will be contacting applicants to schedule meetings.

Planners are also still available to address any planning inquiries by email.
