A consortium involving EllisDon and PCL Construction has received international recognition for the financing and delivery of a major hospital redevelopment project in Mississauga.
The team recently accepted the 2025 IJGlobal PPP Deal of the Year – North America award for the Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children project. The honour was presented by IJGlobal, which recognizes outstanding infrastructure and energy transactions worldwide.
The project is being delivered through a public-private partnership consortium that includes EllisDon, PCL Construction, Fengate Asset Management and Plenary Americas. The partners combine expertise in construction, infrastructure development and project financing to deliver the large-scale health-care redevelopment.
Although the IJGlobal Awards ceremony primarily focuses on equity investors and developers, EllisDon noted that the success of the deal reflects the work of hundreds of individuals across design, construction, facilities services and other project teams.
The award was accepted on behalf of everyone involved and will be displayed at the joint venture office as a shared symbol of the collaboration behind the development.
“This recognition highlights the strength of the public-private partnership model and the close collaboration between development partner PCL, clients Trillium Health Partners and Infrastructure Ontario, and equity partners Fengate Asset Management and Plenary Americas,” said Jeff Brace, head of infrastructure at EllisDon Capital.
Brace added that the award also reflects the role played by lenders and advisors involved in structuring the project financing.
“It also reflects the important contributions of lenders and advisors who helped establish a new benchmark for megaproject financing in Canada. While the full list of contributors is extensive, this award belongs to everyone who played a role,” he said.
In a statement shared on social media, PCL Construction also highlighted the significance of the recognition.
“We’re proud to announce that The Peter Gilgan Mississauga Hospital and Shah Family Hospital for Women and Children project has been awarded the 2025 IJGlobal PPP Deal of the Year – North America,” the company wrote.
“This recognition reflects the scale, complexity and collaborative strength of our equity partners, including EllisDon, Fengate Asset Management and Plenary Americas, whose combined leadership has driven the largest and most transformative P3 healthcare project in Canadian history.”
The IJGlobal Awards celebrate outstanding greenfield and refinancing projects across the global energy and infrastructure sectors, recognizing teams that deliver complex deals and long-term value through major infrastructure developments.
