WINDSOR — Construction has begun on a new transit terminal in east Windsor that will replace the facility at Tecumseh Mall.
The terminal will be located at the northwest corner of Lauzon Parkway and Tecumseh Road East and will consolidate all bus routes currently operating from the mall. The City of Windsor says the project is expected to be completed in 2026.
Vince Ferro Construction Ltd. is handling the construction, according to city tender documents.
As part of the project, the city plans to plant new trees off-site at a 1:1 replacement ratio for any removed during construction.
The relocation has drawn mixed reactions from the community, with some residents expressing concerns about the effect on foot traffic at Tecumseh Mall, while others note the potential benefits of the new location.
