Hanover Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades Environmental Assessment

Industry Name: Industrial

Trade Name: Water/Wastewater Treatment

Project Street: 718 7th Ave.

Project City: Hanover

Detail Of Services: The Town of Hanover invites proposals for the Environmental Assessment for the Hanover Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrades. The Town of Hanover Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 718 7th Avenue was originally constructed in 1934 and has undergone major expansions in 1964 and 1981. The plant has a rated capacity of 6,360m3 /day with a short-term hydraulic peak flow capacity of 19,640m3 /day. Wastewater received at the plant is primarily residential waste; however, there is a large meat processing facility which discharges pre-treated waste to the treatment plant. Since 1981 the following upgrades to the plant have been completed:• 1994 flare stack for the anaerobic sludge digester installed;• 2002 screening conveyor installed;• 2018 an additional 4,500m3 of biosolids storage tanks and loading facility; • 2020 de-chlorination system utilizing sodium bisulphite and replacement of two circular final clarifiers with scum removal at the easterly plant. Based on flows experienced at the wastewater treatment plant in 2021 averaging 81.5% of the design capacity, anticipated steady growth of the municipality over the next 25 years, and plans to pump leachate from the Hanover-Walkerton landfill site to be treated at wastewater treatment plant, a Municipal Class Environment Assessment (Class EA) Schedule ‘C’ is necessary.
