EllisDon holding online memorial tribute for Stephen Damp

EllisDon will be holding an online tribute for Stephen Damp tomorrow (June 11) at 1 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend via webcast at this link.

Damp, executive vice-president of the civil division for about a decade, died after suffering a heart attack at home on May 29.

“I don’t believe that I have met anyone who lived the values of Family, Integrity, Personal Responsibility and Hard Work more deeply than Stephen Damp,” EllisDon CEO Geoff Smith wrote on the company’s blog. “Right now, it feels like a freight train just smashed through our living room.”

Damp is also being fondly remembered by members of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), where he held positions for more than 20 years including Past President and board member of the TAC Foundation.

“To those who knew him, Stephen was a valued colleague who could be counted on for insightful contributions to discussions and projects, and to offer his time, good humour and generous spirit wherever needed,” TAC executive director Sarah Wells said in a statement.

Smith described his colleague as a builder, “but not so much of buildings. “Instead he built people, he built opportunities, he built character, and of course he helped profoundly to build EllisDon in the last 10 years.”
