The Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor) has announced $379,500 for youth internship opportunities in Northwestern Ontario. FedNor’s investment will support 24 placements over a three-year period.
Funding will support the Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre’s Youth Effect Program, which matches participants with subject matter experts (SMEs) to work on projects through 15-week placements.
NOIC works directly with local SMEs to create strategic matches with youth based on interests and skills. Participating youth and organizations must be physically located in Northwestern Ontario.
Through 24 placements, funding will help develop specialized skills and knowledge for youth in the region.
Additional anticipated benefits include the maintenance of critical strategic alliances in Northwestern Ontario, and the development of regional businesses, products, processes, services, and/or technologies.

The Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre (NOIC) is a not-for-profit organization that helps commercialize innovation in Northwestern Ontario and build the economy through targeted programs and services for entrepreneurs.
