The City of Kingston’s planning services is temporarily suspending the pre-application service related to development applications submitted under the Planning Act. This temporary suspension will continue indefinitely and will be continually.  Active planning applications will not be affected by this change.

“As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we’re considering what is best for the health and safety of residents while continuing to provide support to individuals navigating the planning process,” says Tim Park, manager of development approvals.

“We want to emphasize that this is a measure to reduce the need for in-person meetings. Planners will still be available to by phone or email and other planning processes will continue as per usual.”

Planning services staff will be available to address inquiries about potential applications via phone at 613 546-4291 ext. 3180 or email at planning@cityofkingston.ca for informal consultation between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Applicants are requested to email or call the Planner assigned to their files when enquiring about an application, versus coming for an in-person meeting.

Planning Act applications can still be submitted online through DASH.

The Heritage Resource Centre will be closing temporarily and will not be providing in-person service. Staff can still be contacted by email at HRC@cityofkingston.ca or by phone at 613-546-4291 ext. 1389.
