The City of Kingston is planning to purchase property at 2000 Front Rd., widely known as Lemoine Point Farm, following a court-approved settlement.
The deal concludes years of confidential negotiations related to the property. With the settlement finalized, the city said it is pleased to share the outcome with the community.
The approximately 80-acre purchase, valued at $12 million, is part of Kingston’s ongoing effort to create a more connected and accessible waterfront. City officials say the acquisition provides flexibility to keep the land open to the public while protecting it for long-term use, guided by community input.
Mayor Bryan Paterson said the site is significant to Kingston and emphasized the city’s plans to work with local organizations.
“These partnerships will help ensure the property remains a welcoming and sustainable space,” Paterson said. “We’re grateful for the chance to protect this important piece of local waterfront, and we look forward to working with residents to imagine what the future of Lemoine Point Farm will look like.”
The city plans to collaborate with groups such as the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority and other not-for-profits in developing the site. More details will be provided in a council report scheduled for March 24.
