Labour Update – Here’s the latest on negotiations

This is where negotiations stand with various unions as of Friday:

The Carpenters Union which represents the carpentry and drywall trade is on strike now having walked out on May 9th following the membership rejection of a proposed settlement from late April. Negotiations resume with talks scheduled for this week including May 24 and 25.

RATIFIED:
  • Electricians – Total wage increase of $6.05 subject to a ‘me-too’ clause. If any of eight specified trades obtain a better settlement than the $6.05, IBEW members will receive an adjustment.
  • Ironworkers- Total wage increase of $5.73 represents a 9.3  per cent increase.
  • Millwrights – Reported wage package increase is 9.25  per cent over three years.
  • Plasterers – Reported wage package increase is 9  per cent over three years.
  • Plumbers – Reported wage package increase is 13 per cent over three years.
  • Tile & Terrazzo – Reported wage package increase is 9 per cent over 3 years.
CONDUCTING MEMBERSHIP VOTES:
  • Bricklayers
  • Labourers
  • Refrigeration
  • Sprinkler Fitters

Sheet metal and rod workers/rebar workers rejected their latest settlement offers.
