OAA to reveal People’s Choice Award at online Design Excellence and Service awards event today

The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) will recognize its 2020 Design Excellence and Service Awards at a virtual awards ceremony this afternoon.

The 45-minute ceremony starting at 4:30 p.m. will feature the announcement of the People’s Choice Award winner, following public online voting that concluded on Monday.

Most of the winners have already been revealed, with the results published in Ontario Construction News on Sept. 10. The awards program celebrates the work of Ontario architects, highlighting projects throughout the province and beyond. This year’s winners include reimaginings of condo tower and semi-detached typologies in Toronto, innovative swimming pools in Edmonton, a new home for Canada’s Senate, and sustainable school buildings in Peterborough, New York City, Windsor, and Philadelphia.)

The awards program will be broadcast on OAA’s YouTube channel and on the OAA Website. The digital event also honours this year’s Lifetime Design Achievement, G. Randy Roberts Service Award, and Order of da Vinci recipients, as well as the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Design Excellence in Architecture,  Michael V. and Wanda Plachta Award, and the Best Emerging Practice.
