OC Transpo has reached a new milestone in construction of the O-Train Stage 2 east extension.

More than 12 kilometres of new track has been laid for the extension of Line 1, which runs east from Blair Station into Orléans.

Officials announced the milestone on social media and now construction will focus on installing electrical components including overhead wires, signalling and communications equipment.

The eastern extension of Stage 2 of LRT will bring trains to Trim Road and is expected to be completed in early 2025.

On Nov. 1, the agency announced the completion of excavating on two tunnels along Kichi Zibi Mikan, Byron Linear, and Connaught Parks. The next stage of construction involves pouring the roof and walls of the tunnel, backfilling, and installing track infrastructure.

“Our crew also poured the largest amount of concrete in a month with a volume of 7503 m3, 1000 m3 more than targeted,” OC Transpo stated.
