OGCA Symposium under-way at Blue Mountain

The first day of the 2023 Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) Symposium on Thursday included a diversity of sessions and covering topics of relevance to general contractors and the wider construction community. Safety, litigation, new technologies, business management and other topics were covered.

The program continues today and tonight the association will recognize recipients of the 2024 Ontario Builder Awards These awards showcase members’ latest and greatest projects including professional office buildings, restaurants, department stores, waste water treatment plants, hotels and recreational facilities.

Ontario Construction News will report the awards and symposium sessions in upcoming issues.

Mark Buckshon founded the precursor business behind Ontario Construction News in 1989. Earlier, he worked as a journalist and sub-editor, including a stint on the Bulawayo Chronicle in 1979-80, during the transition from Rhodesia to Zimbabwe.  He has lived in Ottawa since 1981. While most publishers achieve their role through a sales/business development career, Mark developed his business skills after succeeding as a journalist, and he continues to enjoy actively writing, editing and contributing to the publication.
