Infrastructure Ontario in its June 2026 market update has highlighted 24 projects in pre-procurement and active procurement phases, representing a combined design and construction value of more than $25 billion. The update also includes 19 government projects in the early planning phase.
It said the Ontario government’s investment in building and modernizing public infrastructure totals $236 billion, the most ambitious capital plan in the province’s history.
The Ontario Provincial Police detachment on Ontario Place’s east island and the Ontario Place administrative and maintenance complex are listed as new projects while the Finch West LRT and Eglinton Crosstown LRT, all in Toronto, are major projects reaching substantial conclusion.
Alliston’s Stevenson Memorial Hospital redevelopment project, the new Ontario Science Centre and the Ontario Place parking structure are major projects reaching contract execution.
Projects that moved from pre-procurement to active procurement include Oak Valley Healthcare’s Uxbridge redevelopment, Windsor Regional Hospital’s Fancsy Family Hospital project and Contract 1 Diagnostic and Treatment Block, as well as Brockville’s Correctional Complex and the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre.
Transit projects in the procurement phase include the $4 billion Yonge north subway extension. Health and children’s treatment centre projects in the procurement stage include the Bowmanville Health redevelopment valued at up to $1 billion.
The Quinte Detention Centre in Greater Napanee is among public works and justice projects in the procurement phase. The capital repair pipeline includes more than 132 projects.
