New home sales in Ottawa saw a mid-year bump in June, with a 7.8 per cent increase compared to the same month last year, according to a new report.
The Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association (GOHBA) and PMA Brethour Realty Group reported that 358 new homes were sold in June, up from 332 in June 2024. June’s sales also represented a 13.7 per cent increase from May of this year, making it the strongest month for new home sales in 2025 so far.
“June’s numbers are especially encouraging for Ottawa home builders as we pass the halfway point of 2025,” GOHBA executive director Jason Burggraaf said in a Monday (July 28) statement. “While total sales are trailing last year’s pace, month-over-month gains show demand is there, and we hope to see buyers turn out in greater numbers in the second half of the year.”
Despite the strong performance in June, year-to-date sales are down 3.8 per cent, with 1,776 homes sold in the first half of 2025 compared to 1,847 during the same period in 2024.
The report shows a nearly even split in sales across the city’s suburban areas. The south and west ends of Ottawa each accounted for 34 per cent of new home sales in June, while the east end saw 30 per cent of sales. The east end’s 108 sales represented an 86 per cent increase from June 2024. Central Ottawa accounted for the remaining two per cent of sales.
