BRAMPTON – Regional Municipality of Peel has broken ground on Byngmount Shores, a seven-storey affordable rental development in Mississauga’s Lakeview neighbourhood.

The project at 970 East Ave. will deliver 150 rental units, including family-sized homes and ground-floor community space. Twenty-two per cent of the units will be fully accessible.

Peel Housing Corporation will own and operate the building and is a core partner in planning and delivering the development.

Construction is underway, with Martinway Developments Ltd. serving as design-builder. The project is expected to be completed in 2028.

Funding support comes from all levels of government, including the federal government through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Peel Region and the City of Mississauga.

Byngmount Shores is identified as a key initiative in Peel Region’s 10-year housing and homelessness plan, which prioritizes building affordable housing near transit, schools, services and employment.

The development will include 40 per cent of units priced at 60 per cent of median market rent.
