RSG International Partners with Mark’s Commercial to enhance Inclusivity in PPE for construction workforce

Ontario Construction News staff writer

RSG International has announced a partnership with Mark’s Commercial to provide inclusive personal protective equipment (PPE) for all field employees including Powell Contracting workers. The goal is to ensure safety gear is accessible and appropriately sized for all workers, regardless of gender or background.

Health and Safety Manager Jenn Eden at Powell Contracting highlights the ongoing challenge many women face in finding PPE that fits properly.

“Most clothing is designed with men in mind and often doesn’t fit well,” she says. “When your equipment fits right, you can focus on the job without worrying about whether you’re properly protected.”

The partnership has included the successful testing of women’s shirts within the Health and Safety department at Powell Contracting, which is accredited under ISO 45001:2018, the global standard for occupational health and safety.

“Safety shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all; it should reflect the diversity of the workforce,” said Lisa Laronde, President of RSG International.

RSG International has also been purchasing VizLite® vests that incorporate illumination technology to enhance visibility for road workers in low-light conditions. These vests are crucial for improving safety, helping to mitigate risks associated with poor visibility.

“We are thrilled to work with RSG International to develop innovative, inclusive PPE products that fit every member of their diverse workforce,” said Adam Gaiser, Vice President of Mark’s Commercial.

Looking ahead, RSG plans to test VizLite® tape to further enhance safety measures in work zones.
