REGINA –  The Saskatchewan government has launched a new monthly construction update series highlighting infrastructure work across the province, beginning with a major long-term care project now under construction in Regina.

The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement said the Monthly Construction Update will provide regular insight into 20 major and 134 additional projects, including progress updates, project teams and community benefits.

“The Monthly Construction Update offers timely insight into important infrastructure investments occurring in our province,” SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Sean Wilson said in a statement. “This new initiative demonstrates the progress and purpose these projects deliver to protect communities throughout Saskatchewan.”

The five-storey, 21,979-sq. m. facility will include 240 specialized long-term care beds for seniors and residents with complex needs such as dementia, cognitive impairment and acquired brain injuries.

Construction began in September 2025, with Graham Design Builders LP serving as the project’s design-builder.

Work completed to date includes installation of a tower crane, substantial completion of foundation work and construction of the stairwell structure. Crews have also begun pouring the foundation slab and advancing vertical column work, marking the transition to above-ground construction.

Site servicing is complete and the initial phase of roadway construction wrapped up in October 2025. SaskPower is expected to install streetlight infrastructure in spring 2026, with additional roadwork continuing into 2027.

The facility is designed to provide a home-like environment, with each floor organized into four resident neighbourhoods centred around shared dining and social spaces. Plans include private rooms with bathrooms, indoor and outdoor multipurpose areas, a therapy centre and Indigenous gathering and spiritual spaces.

The project is part of the province’s broader effort to expand health infrastructure and improve access to care.

“Our government is committed to providing seniors and individuals in long-term care with safe and comfortable spaces to live,” Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors and Rural and Remote Health Minister Lori Carr said. “We are very pleased to see the continued progress on the Regina Specialized Long-Term Care Home that will serve Regina and area residents for years to come.”

The project is expected to take approximately four years to complete, with substantial completion targeted for fall 2028.
