Sault Ste. Marie launches grant program to boost building rental units and multi-unit developments

Ontario Construction News staff writer

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is rolling out a new Housing Grant Program aimed at increasing housing options and addressing the community’s growing demand for rental units. This program offers financial support to contractors, developers, and non-profit organizations to build secondary suites, basement apartments, and multi-unit residential developments.

Whether you’re adding rental suites to existing homes or taking on larger multi-unit housing projects, this initiative provides the funding you need to get the job done. Affordable housing projects led by non-profits are also eligible for assistance.

For more details, attend an information session on Feb. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ronald A. Irwin Civic Centre, 99 Foster Dr. – Russ Ramsay Room (Level 3). A formal presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m.

Applications are now open, and city staff are ready to help bring your projects to life. Visit saultstemarie.ca/housing for more information.
