Skills Ontario has received the 2025 Leading on Diversity – Community Award from the Toronto Community Benefits Network (TCBN), recognizing its commitment to workforce development initiatives that support equity-deserving groups.

The organization was one of 10 recipients honoured during the 5th annual Building Diversity Awards and Community Benefits Summit, held in Toronto. The award was accepted by Ashley Cuglietta, director of diversity, equity, inclusion and Indigenous relations at Skills Ontario.

“We are grateful the nominations committee has selected Skills Ontario for this award and for the opportunity to highlight our work in breaking down barriers and fostering inclusion in the skilled trades,” said Cuglietta in a statement.

For more than 25 years, Skills Ontario has delivered programs aimed at increasing representation in skilled trades and technology careers. Its initiatives include the Young Women’s Initiatives, First Nations, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) programming, Black youth events, and diversity, equity and inclusion programming.

Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario, congratulated the team for their ongoing efforts.

“This award highlights our commitment to ensuring all youth have equal opportunities to explore careers in the skilled trades,” he said. “We’re proud of programs like the UMOJA Series, International Day of the Girl celebrations, FNMI Skilled Trades and Tech Days, and Tools for Success events.”

Skills Ontario acknowledged the support of the Ontario government and corporate sponsors including Enbridge, Magna International, CN Rail and TC Energy.
