Timmins to host public open house on growth management study tonight – April 1

The City of Timmins is hosting a public open house tonight, April 1, to discuss the future growth and development of the community. The event will provide an opportunity to learn about and provide feedback on the city’s growth management study, which will guide development over the next 25 years.

The event will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at McIntyre Community Centre (Auditorium), 85 McIntyre Rd. Key topics will include population growth, housing, and employment forecasts, as well as social and economic trends that may impact municipal growth. It will also address opportunities and challenges that come with growth and development.

The Growth Management Study is being conducted in partnership with Watson & Associates Economists Ltd. and J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. The city’s planning division is working to develop a long-term strategy that will guide how and where residential and employment growth should occur to ensure It will also serve as a foundation for the city’s Official Plan Review.
