Tom Thomson gallery renovations delayed by material shortages

Ontario Construction News staff writer

Renovations at the Tom Thomson Art gallery in Owen Sound, a $777,000 project have been delayed by supply chain issues, according to a recent staff report to city council.

Expected competition is now the end of December, 2023.

General contractor JP Commercial Contractors informed the city that concrete used in the elevator shaft for the new elevator had to be replaced – work that adds four to six weeks to construction.

Construction includes accessibility upgrades,  reconstruction of the front entrance and replacing a passenger lift with an elevator.

This project is funded by a grant from the Canada Community Revitalization Fund and contributions from the City of Owen Sound.
